General Manager’s Report
Darrell Ransdell (335-7869 ex. 1756)
Security Changes – The POA staff is working with members of the Advisory Committee to reformulate our Security procedures as they apply to operation of the gates, patrols of the village, reporting of incidents and actions to take in response to incidents. The Board asked us to modify the procedures, while controlling the level of expenses.
Cedar Ridge – In the really hot and dry part of the year, the weeds seem to grow better than almost anything else. We have had several complaints on the spreading weeds in yards. We are working to find what will be most effective in controlling the weed problem. You will see some browning of the yards for several days as spray is applied. The grass should green up once again. We have sprayed a sample yard to try a new product and when we determine what works, the remaining yards will be sprayed.
Swimming Pool – With the heat, the swimming pool at the clubhouse has been very popular. We are working each day on water clarity. The water is tested twice daily for chemical balance and is kept within guidelines. Our biggest problem is the high level of oils in the water from sunscreen and the large number of people using the pool. The combination of the high temperatures and the oils from sunscreen are working against our chemicals. We consult with a pool expert often and who tells us pools throughout the area are having a similar clarity problem this time of year.
Maintenance will be adding a shower to the pool area to encourage swimmers to wash off the oils before entering the pool each time. Entering the pool without showering washes off the oils in the water and we would like to keep as much oil out of the water as possible. The shower will also help sunbathers to cool off without the need to get into the pool.

I want all our events together to be successful!
THANK YOU COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSONS AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS...........
Our committees are an important part of the great things going on here in the village. As Board members, we rely on input from each committee because you volunteer your time and effort to get the facts and make recommendations. Also, you serve as an important conduit to communicate with and for the owners of StoneBridge. Communication is one of our biggest challenges. Thank you for all you do.

It’s never too early to plan for fall, especially after a summer such as this one. I am now planning for fall; over seeding tees, rough, practice area, and home lawns. This will start when Mother Nature says it can start.
I know a lot of you are very concerned about the weeds in your yards. A lot of those weeds are not just summer annuals. Some are perennial weeds. These are very hard to control and we are in the process of spraying and trying to find a chemical that will control them other than Roundup. Also, at this time any grubs that made it through summer will start to cause real trouble both from the grubs, as well as, the varmints that eat them. Retreating is one option and armadillo patrol is another.
Enjoy your golf!

September is quickly approaching and it is full of events, beginning with our first event, the Labor Day Scramble. The Labor Day Scramble is on Monday September 4 at 1:00 in the afternoon. The following Friday, September 8 is the LLGA Invitational. The Invitational is full, but the ladies are still seeking volunteers for that day. The Men’s Member Guest is also in September. We are currently taking two-man entries for this event. The entry is $170.00 per person and an additional $20.00 to enter the Friday Shoot-Out. The Shoot -Out begins at 3:30 on Friday, September 15. The event will extend through the following weekend with an 8:00 shotgun on both Saturday and Sunday. Immediately after the Men’s Member Guest is the 5th Annual Jeff Julian Golf Tournament. All proceeds from this tournament go to support the ALS foundation “ Driving for Life.” This event is also full; however, I am still seeking volunteers. For the Ryder Cup, we will be having a fun two-person best ball Thursday tournament and Sunday party. There is an entry form for this event in the pro shop. If you would like to sign up for the Labor Day Scramble, Men’s Member Guest , and Ryder Cup Best Ball, or to volunteer for the Jeff Julian, please call the LedgeStone Pro Shop at 417-335-8187. We are running Friday and Monday “Best Ball” tournaments throughout the next two months. The event is open to all golfers provided that the golfer has a USGA handicap and an extra $20.00 dollar bill. Thank you!
Architectural Control Committee (A.C.C.)
Larry Moffit (417.334.0636)
StoneBridge Village has rules regarding the type of vehicles that can be parked at your residence. These rules are addressed in the Stone Bridge Village Architectural Control Committee Rules and Regulations, Article IV, Parking Standards.
Item 4 states, “no recreational vehicle, motor home, camper, boat, trailer (anything of which exceeds 22 feet in length or will not fit through a 9 feet by 8 feet single garage door), or other vehicle not normally or customarily used for personal or family transportation shall be parked in the yard or normal size garage space associated with each residence.”
Item 5 states, “vehicles used specifically for commercial purposes including, but not limited to, construction trucks, cargo carrying trucks, trailers, and construction equipment shall not be parked in a residential area, other than for the purpose of accommodating work on the premises.” This is not intended to include pickup trucks and vans up to 6000 GVW normally used as a source of personal transportation.
Large recreational vehicles, motor homes, campers, boats and trailers may temporarily be parked on the paved driveway of a residence for the purpose of loading/unloading and cleaning only for a period not to exceed 72 hours.
There have been some recent incidents of residents clearing under brush and cutting of trees at there residence. The A.C.C. shall review all tree clearing prior to removal to assure the retention of as many native trees and flowering plants as practical. In general, no trees over 4 inches (4”) in diameter shall be cut. Dead, diseased, downed trees, or low hanging limbs, which are deemed a safety hazard, may be removed when approved by the A.C.C. No disturbances to any adjoining lots or common properties are permitted.
There are a number of lawns that are not well maintained. The Stone Bridge Village Architectural Control Committee Rules and Regulations, Article V, states, “it is expected that the yard of each home will be established and maintained in a neat manner and one that is pleasing to the eye.” The lawns are not expected to be manicured but should be mowed regularly, weeds removed, and shrubbery trimmed, so as to not appear overgrown.
Trash containers continue to be stored outside at some residences. All trash containers for one or two family dwelling shall be stored inside garages, basements, or fenced privacy areas adjacent to the home, which are approved by the A.C.C.
Your cooperation in resolving the items above is greatly appreciated.

August 21 and 22 - The LLGA Championship was held these two days in a stroke-play, low gross and net tournament. The LLGA Champion for 2006 is Mary Gillespie, with a 164 (80- 84). This is the fourth year in a row Mary has won the championship.

They were co-medalists, each shooting 80 on the first day. Four more birdies were made on the second day of the tournament. Good work!
As a postscript, we had a very friendly cat on #7 both days. He seemed extremely interested in our putts, and we had to watch he didn't run off with anybody's ball!
Along with all this play on our own course, we had LLGA ladies who played in two other tournaments. Jody Jennett, Bonnie Ransdell, Shirley Douglas, and Betty Alexander played in the Tri-State Tour in Island Green in Republic. The SAWGA (Senior Amateur Women's Golf Ass'n) tournament was at Stewart, Rivercut and Hickory Hills, and we had five participants. Shirley Douglas won 6th in her flight, Betty Alexander won 5th, Jody Jennet won 4th, and Barb Thompson won 1st. In the second flight, Gae Redford won 6th.

My . . . My . . . My . . . It’s amazing what a 60th B.D. party
will uncover about your friends . . . (to be revealed later---stay tuned).
Red & White were the designated colors for a 9’ers night out at the Springfield Cardinal’s Baseball Stadium the last Monday in July. Nell W. was the most patriotic sporting red lace over white. Eleven of us piled into 2 mini-vans for the excursion and off we went chattering away as the 2nd van tried in vain to follow in Janet K’s dust (which we didn’t see again til we got to the ballpark). Peggy S. couldn’t go that evening because she couldn’t find her name badge (so sorry, Peggy). Even though we were still in a heat wave, there was a breeze blowing over us and our seats (scattered in 3 different areas) were shaded. We ran into Dale Russell around the concessions and recruited him to be our Centerfold in our group picture while the huge marquee sign above the outfield was flashing “The LedgeStone 9’ers.” Kay Russell soon rescued him and (for some reason) we never saw him again that evening.z
Sheryl G. and Nell W. had seats in the Ritzy All-You-Can -Eat Section. Emilie M., Eve G., Debbie H., Nancy D., and I had seats in the area below them, while Janet K., Joan G., Ruth D., & Guyana P. had seats right behind the net at home plate although they must have gotten lost and decided to sit in a different set of seats 2 whole sections over and to the right above the dugout. Anyway, it wasn’t long before Janet was taking charge & gathering us all up to sit together. She used her cell phone to contact us from across the park. Instead, to reach me, calls my husband at home. Now he’s wondering why I’m not at the ballpark with all of the girls! Nell is on the spot, too, when she gets home and can’t even tell Norm who won the game! Tch! Tch!
Ok, as far as the golf scene, let’s get our Technical News out of the way: During this past month, Debbie birdied on #15 & putted while doing her Charlie Chaplin stance; Nell bogied on #5, and parred on 2 others; I parred on #5; Eve and Myra also birdied; we welcomed a guest player, Jean Pellegrinne; Guyana shot her ball directly into a tree hole where it got stuck (where is the Rule Book?); but, the award goes to Peggy --- She shot her ball hitting it 2 feet to her right into her golf cart where her partner, Janet, was waiting & watching her. It landed UNDER the floor mat in the cart. (We probably need more than a Rule Book!) Sheryl didn’t have any golf news, but says she just enjoys the parties!
For the LLGA Ladies’ Golf Tournament in September, we 9’ers are sponsoring Hole 9 (which other one would it be?), and some have volunteered to help out the day of theTournament. Have fun and good luck to all players and volunteers! Did you know that playing couples on Thursdays is an option for all of us? It’s always a fast Scramble & you’ll learn more rules. If your mate doesn’t play, they’ll find you a partner, then after the game, your spouse is encouraged to come down to eat & socialize with all of our other S.B. friends. Join them!
Future activities coming up: Janet has invited all of us with our spouses to attend the latest Production of Red, Hot, & Blue this week. There are tentative plans to do a shopping trip with a twist, and we definitely want to have another party where we can exercise new games. Janet has challenged us to a game of mini-golf to sharpen our golf skills. Wonder what she’s trying to tell us? In the meantime, Nell is waiting outside Janet’s door stoop for a ride to the luncheon at the Clubhouse. Speaking of which, we’re all enjoying the benefits of Chef Bob Nicol’s food preparation, which he so skillfully arranges on the plate and presents so beautifully for our dining pleasure. What a joy to go down to our newly refurbished & elegantly decorated restaurants these days to have a meal or just a cold drink only two minutes from our homes. With Renče Blum’s friendly and warm personality keeping things well organized and efficiently maintained, it’s more than a pleasure to bring guests, friends, or relatives with us. In addition, we’re all very impressed with Bob’s professional and courteous wait staff. Just think, thanks to the huge efforts and expense of MPI and our own POA, we’re just at the threshold of our Clubhouse’s enjoyment with years and years of social and dining pleasure ahead of us.
I was in for a big surprise when I picked Nell up for an Un-birthday lunch at our Clubhouse and an afternoon of “jewelry shopping”. Waiting for me in the Par Room were the 9’ers and the most fun party ever! Scheming with Roland was how she planned it along with Joan, Ruth, & Janet. Pink was the color of the day and FUN - FUN - FUN was the result. After a lively lunch downstairs, we gathered again in the Par Room and a guessing game ensued where we each had to fill in the rest of this sentence with a mystery event from our past lives: “I’ll bet you didn’t know that I . . .”
The fun of guessing Who did What was uproarious with all fingers pointing to PEGGY, PEGGY, PEGGY. How could you have done so many things in your past, Peggy? Here are some of the answers:
1. Was a Belly Dancer. (Pssst - -- Classes offered at Tech Center Sept/Oct.)
2. While tipsy, played drums for Mel Torme.
3. Took my mom and aunt to a Nude Beach and because we were laughing so hard upon
arrival, were thrown out of the place.
4. Have gone to the Rolling Stones Concerts 5 times & planning the 6th .
5. Was a Car Hop at A&W & flirted with all the cute boys (got big tips).
6. Have a pilot’s license and Steve McQueen said I was cute.
7. Rode in a Hot Air Balloon.
8. Was Mayor of the small town in which we lived.
9. Climbed Mt Fuji in less than 8 hours.
10. Earned all requirements for a Ph. D. except the dissertation, AND coached
cheerleading, volleyball, soccer, basketball, and Little League Baseball.
11. Entered a Drag Race --- and won a trophy.
12. (This from one of our most flamboyant & outgoing 9’ers) . . . “Likes to Travel”
Now really, what is SHE hiding?
Happy birthday to Marty Hogan in August & to Jane Lowell in September! Ruth and Debbie,
we’ll miss you both in September, but enjoy your trips and upon your return, we’ll see you on the Course.
