General Manager’s Report

Darrell Ransdell (335-7869)

Clubhouse Renovation – Nicol’s Fine Dining (upstairs) will open soon. Notices will be posted in the clubhouse and advertising will begin to communicate the opening. The LedgeStone Grille has operated since the 1st of July and there are many favorable comments on the facility, as well as, the service and food provided by Bob Nicols and his staff. It is great once again to have access to dining in the clubhouse. Be sure to stop in for a wonderful dining experience and tell your friends that dining at StoneBridge Village is open to the public.

Gates – We are experiencing more mechanical and electrical problems with the gates than we would like and we are continuing to work with the supplier to solve the problems. Thanks for your continued patience.

Newsletter – Several of you are having problems viewing and printing the newsletter from the web-site. Instructions are available at the POA office and we will be glad to assist anyone who has questions. We are continuing to make changes to help provide easy access for both printing and viewing the monthly newsletter.

Golf Course Rules and Regulations – The POA office and the Pro Shop have booklets of Rules and Regulations for the golf course, pool, and tennis facilities at StoneBridge. All property owners who intend to use these amenities should be familiar with our rules. Due to several questions during our last Board meeting, we are providing excerpts to remind property owners of our responsibilities.

The golf course is for playing the game and not for practice at any time. The driving range, putting, and chipping areas are provided for practice. All play must be authorized through the Pro Shop, who will assign starting times and locations. All play must start on number 1 tee unless otherwise directed by the Pro Shop. This includes annual golf members, persons living near the course and those who own their own cart.

Junior golfers are a vital part of the growth of the game and we support participation of junior golfers supervised by an adult. Juniors, under the age of 16, are not allowed to start on the course, or use the putting green, or driving range unless supervised by an adult. The Golf Pro may waive playing restrictions for juniors provided they can demonstrate that they have adequate knowledge of golf and golf etiquette.

Whether carts are club owned or privately owned, no more than two riders and two golf bags are allowed per cart. The golf cart operator must have a valid driver’s license. Privately owned golf carts may be operated only by the owner, spouse, and their dependent children living at home who are at least 16 years old and who have a valid driver’s license. Carts operated by others will have their round and golf privileges suspended immediately without refund and must report to the Golf Pro or Golf Committee to be reinstated.

Property owners who own a golf cart are subject to the annual trail fee before the first use of the cart on the golf course.

Again, the rules mentioned here stem from questions of owners and there are other regulations regarding the golf course that all of us need to know and help enforce. The golf course is owned and operated by the POA, for the benefit of the members and to enhance our property values. The rules help us use this asset in an equitable manner, while preserving the beauty and recreational value of the course.

Please report infractions immediately by calling the Pro Shop or Security at the West Gate if the Pro Shop is closed.

SilverOaks Drive - Repairs will be made in the coming weeks by APAC. The road surface near the intersections of StoneyCreek Circle and StoneyKirk Circle will be ground down and resurfacing will be applied. The whole project should take 2 or 3 days and the road will be open to one lane traffic during part of the project. Please slow down and use extra caution in the area once the repair begins.

Golf Course Superintendent

Jim Pyle (417.339.2130)

Ball marks are a sore subject. All of us want to make one, especially close to the hole, and all of us should know how to fix one. The staff is instructed to fix all they can find everyday when they are mowing the greens. Lately, we’ve been riding mowers more than walking to conserve labor and the ball marks’ wear and tear is becoming quite a problem. It just seems to me that if everyone wants to make one, everyone should want to fix one (or five).

Now is a great time to treat for grubs, and other surface feeding insects. They have hatched and are feeding on your lawn. The actual turf damage will start showing in about a month, the varmints (foxes, skunks, armadillos, birds, etc.) will start feeding sooner than that.

I would also like to comment on the great numbers playing this year. It makes us feel good to see you use your course.

Architectural Control Committee (A.C.C.)

Larry Moffit (417.334.0636)

The A.C.C. would like to thank the residents of StoneBridge Village for their continued support and to request some additional assistance from each homeowner. Listed below are requirements as outlined in the original Covenant filed in Stone County on October 22, 1993, and further defined in the StoneBridge Village Architectural Control Committee Rules and Regulations (SBVACC R&R).

Landscaping Plans. When excavating, trenching, rock removal, installing block or stone, or retaining walls, the A.C.C. will need to be notified for approval. The reason is that there are several areas within StoneBridge Village where drainage and rainfall runoff can be a major problem. This will allow the A.C.C. to review the area to make sure the golf course and other residences are not impacted as a result of improper landscaping. The planting of flowers, shrubbery, bushes, and small trees, planting grass, or placing of sod does not require notification or approval. The A.C.C. has a list of approved landscapers for StoneBridge Village if outsourcing landscaping is necessary.

This is a reminder to property owners in StoneBridge Village that trashcans are to be stored inside garages, basements or fenced privacy areas adjacent to the home (A.C.C. Rules and Regulations, Article X, Item A, Trash Containers).

There are a number of residents that have cats and dogs as house pets. They are very loving animals and close companions for their owners. When dogs are left to themselves outside, they tend to bark for attention. This can be very annoying to neighbors and to golfers if the home is adjacent to the golf course. Please be sensitive to neighbors and golfers – barking dogs are annoying. Residents that walk their dogs or let their dogs run loose on the golf course should pick up the dogs feces they leave behind. Cats can be a nuisance in flowerbeds and gardens. Please be sensitive to this when cats are allowed to roam freely.

Satellite Dishes are allowed in StoneBridge Village with some restrictions. When installing satellite dishes, StoneBridge Village Architectural Control Committee’s Rules and Regulations require notification and approval for the location of the dish/dishes. The desire is to locate the dish/dishes in a location not generally seen from the street or the golf course. Please contact the POA office if and when you decide to install a satellite dish. The A.C.C. will work with you on the proper location. Thank you for your cooperation.

StoneBridge Nightly Rentals Group Sales

Valerie Yow (417.332.1373 ext. 251)

With all of the growth that StoneBridge has undergone over the last year, it occurred to me that not all of our residents are aware that we provide special owner rates for lodging. As an owner, you receive a 20% discount off our standard rates. You may use this as a “backyard getaway” for yourself or to house your out-of-town guests. Keep this in mind when planning your next family reunion. As an added note, we’ve had a busy year here at StoneBridge Nightly Rentals and we would like to thank you for always making our guests feel right at home.

LLGA

It's been a hot month, but the LLGA ladies have persevered and even scored well. For openers, Carol Van Meter scored a HOLE IN ONE on #15 on June 14th. It was witnessed and celebrated appropriately. Now does she get the little necklace with the diamond on it??? Don - it's up to you!

June 20 - The game was Low Net of field. 13 ladies played - winners are:
1st place - Jody Jennett
2nd place - Betty Alexander
3rd place - Kay Russell

Closest to the pin on #5 was Betty Alexander, and closest on #15 was Kay Russell.

June 27 - The game was Mind your F's and T's (The nine holes beginning with those letters are the holes that count, minus half handicap.) Winners were:
1st place: Marilyn Sassman
2nd place: Jody Jennett and Shannon Hunt
4th place: Patty Lund
5th place: Gae Redford
6th place: Jane Julian

EAGLE report: Vicki Wratten on #11 - Congratulations, Vicki!
Birdie report: Gae Redford #9, Mary Gillespie #11, and Kay Russell #15

July 5th - On this Wednesday, the ladies played a scramble with the men because of the 4th being on Tuesday. Of the 33 players, only 5 LLGA ladies participated on a beautiful day. Kay Russell was in the 2nd place group, Shirley Douglas in the 3rd place group, and Marilyn Sassman in the 5th place group.

July 11 - We have now gone to an 8:00 starting time. It's a good thing, because July has been one hot month. Today was our scramble/luncheon. 11 players participated, and two teams won: 1st place with a 69: Sandy Copperstone, Kay Russell, Patty Lund 2nd place with a 71: Jane Julian, Jody Jennett, Marilyn Sassman, Shirley Douglas

Afterwards, we had our first meeting and luncheon in the restaurant - this was a treat! There was much discussion about the upcoming invitational and other events. It was announced that the LLGAChampionship would be August 21 and 22, as printed in our yearly calendar.

July 18 - With temps over 100, it's a wonder anybody played, but they did! The game was Match Play Blind Draw, and the heat made it a real contest of survival, according to Jody Jennett, chairperson of the weekly games. Three quit but nine persevered and finished. Results of the day were:
Betty Alexander defeated Gae Redford 2 and 1
Vicki Wratten defeated Shirley Douglas 4 and 3
Carol Van Meter defeated Jolene Richards 6 and 4
Kay Russell defeated Patty Lund 2 and 1
Barb Thompson drew a bye and got her money back!

Birdie report: Sandy Copperstone on #3 and Gae Redford on #18

9er’s… A whirlwind of activity

9er’s… A whirlwind of activity is what the 9’ers have been on since our last article in the May Newsletter . . . (so, what’s new???) celebrating birthdays for Debbie H., Janet K., Nancy D., and Ruth D. at The Landing with Mother Hen, Joan, toasting each one with a personalized horoscope reading and oversized Blue Margarita’s. We rode over in style in the brand new StoneBridge Shuttle and shared an abundance of chatter all during our “9’ers girls night out”. Sitting under patio umbrellas on the veranda of Garfield’s on the edge of the lake enjoying the summer breezes while the sun set over us was the secondary theme for the evening. The main theme was laughing and chatting with each other while waiting for our Margarita’s and food.

In June, we decided that since we live in such a picturesque dream vacation getaway, we’d meet at the Clubhouse Patio & share a Couples Evening Social that also provided our spouses a good opportunity to get better acquainted with each other. We had appetizers, drinks and a fun time.

In late June, Eve G. invited us all to a cool down party at her home and treated us to a delectable feast for lunch around her pool. It was really an enjoyable day & Nell even had a lesson on how to sit down gracefully (Ouch, Nell).

Then, in July, eleven of us slathered on sunscreen to weather the hot sun at Highland Springs. We again chartered the S.B. Shuttle to Highland Springs for a mini-breakfast & golf clinic followed by a catered lunch, and fashion show. Debbie H. was carried away with her “Barefoot in the Park” theme (is she ruined since moving to the Wilds of Talking Rocks Road?) Some exciting news is our very own M. H., Joan, agreed to be the featured model at next year’s event modeling a specialized line of couture! Four of our 9’ers turned intoDesigner Golfer’s by sidestepping the clinics preferring to sit in the shade under a canopy while pretending to be spectator’s for the professionals that were sweating it out in the 105º heat. Good timing, Nancy, Sheryl, Nell, and oops (me). The others were rewarded with advanced golf training from the Golf Headliner, our own Kim Vinton, who was the days’ featured Golf Pro at the country club.

Our latest Social was an impromptu evening this past week for dinner in the Clubhouse to enjoy Nicol’s Fine Dining and fine dining it was with each and every entrée being presented as if it were going to be on a magazine cover. You’re all in for a special treat if you haven’t already dined at Nicol’s Fine Dining.

We haven’t seen much of Myra S. this season. She’s been busy helping one daughter move to Dubai (goodbye Jennie), and another daughter, Monica, graduate law school. Congratulations on both! Betty’s husband whisked her away on a surprise birthday trip to parts unknown; Nancy’s keeping up with her physical therapy for her back; Sheryl has a corner on the real estate market while JoAnn is enjoying finance seminars these days. Emilie is still recuperating from surgery; Ruth D., Peggy S., and Joan G. have all been busy with company & grandkids; Jane L. Marty H., and Sally H. are keeping the lake area on its toes; and, Susan S. is burning up the roads to St. Louis and Rolla.

Our Hot Weather Tee Time is set for 7:30 am, and with the heat wave we’ve been suffering, we’d all be glad to be out there by 6:30 am. Before the LedgeStone Grille re-opened, we spent our after-golf time relaxing on LedgeStone’s beautiful patio visiting, talking about what shots we wish could be corrected with instant replay as well as the fun things that pop up in all our daily lives. For instance, it was noticed that Janet K. especially enjoys the bird watching off the patio.

For the technical golf news, that part is pretty sparse since we 9’ers focus mainly on fun, fun, and more fun. But, here’s a few tidbits: Janet reports making her best score ever at the beginning of June; Myra parred on #5, Guyana parred and bogied; Debbie is still practicing her trick shots off #4, and we’re all learning how to navigate the new “computer” carts. Joan has been getting an extra Tee Time on Thursdays for anyone interested in honing her golf skills. Call her if you can play.

Happy July birthdays to Myra S. and Betty R.!

See you on the course!

Jeanette Douglas, 9’ers Publicity, August 2006
