General Manager’s Report

Darrell Ransdell (335-7869 ex. 1756)

Annual Meeting – The annual meeting of StoneBridge Village POA was held on May 17th in the Clubhouse Par Room. Board members Steve Redford, MPI and Paul Tappana with Escapes! were reelected to three year terms and the audit report from Roberts, McKenzie, Mangan and Cummings for calendar year 2006 was presented. Neff Basore, Jr., President of the Board, presented a review of significant projects completed and notable items from 2006. Summary financial statements and the 2006 audit report are available from the POA office.

Gridiron Golf Classic – In case you missed it, LedgeStone Golf Course was the site of a 9-hole golf “showdown” between St. Louis Rams and Kansas City Chiefs current and former players on May 20th. Saturday, May 19th was the pro-am where golfers had the opportunity to have some fun and get to know the NFL players up close and personal. We would like to see this event grow in the coming years and from the enthusiasm of the participants, it appears that it will. Hats off to Bill Hasler, our Golf Pro, who put together a great weekend experience for all participants. Our entire Pro Shop staff ably assisted Bill. Our guests had many favorable comments on the event and look forward to playing next year. Jim Pyle, Golf Course Superintendent, and his crew had the course in top shape, as usual.

Next year’s event is planned for the first weekend after Mother’s Day. Mark your calendar and sign up with Bill early to reserve your participation.

Many LedgeStone golfers helped by volunteering Saturday. We have many assets in StoneBridge Village, but the best of all are the people. Thank you.

In keeping with the traditions of both the PGA and NFL, charities such as the local YMCA and others, including charity preferences of the players, benefited from this event.

Activities Director

Denise Needham (417.335.7869 ext. 1754 Cell: 417.263.1741)

Welcome to the wonderful month of June, when it’s good weather for just about anything that involves fresh air and sunshine. During the next few months, we will be planning outdoor events, so please plan to attend. Remember, to sign up for all events that have a sign up deadline by calling Denise in the POA office at 335-7869, ext. 1754 or 263-1741. If you have any questions about an activity or want to discuss some new events, email me at denise@sbvpoa.org.

April Event - Casino Night

The Casino Night held in April was an incredible event. There were seventy gamblers taking chances and having fun without investing real money. There were twenty-two dealers and helpers teaching gamblers how to play the games so everyone could participate. This event would have not been possible without wonderful volunteers and I want to thank you for all the hard work. We will make changes on the raffle tickets distribution and have new prizes for the next Casino night. Again, I want to thank everyone for participating and helping to make this
event so successful.

Golf Course Superintendent

Jim Pyle (417.339.2130)

As many of you have noticed, we have been having a little problem with our greens. I want to assure you that we are working on this and they are progressing back to their normal shape. This started back when we had those four subfreezing temperatures. This has been a most unusual winter to spring transition. The Oak trees have finally come back and I’ve been told that they may not produce any acorns this year; the sycamores still continue to struggle. Our greens are no different. The freeze caught them in a very lush state with all the 80° temperatures that we had at that time.

Some of the different varieties of bent grass are a little more susceptible to cold than others. We had put them in a little weaker state using a growth regulator, which was aimed at the ever existing Poa Anna problem. Be patient, and I must tell you it’s very hard to take my own advise.

Ball marks are still and I suppose always will be a big problem. I gave a demonstration on the proper way to fix them to the men’s golf a few weeks ago. Please take the time to fix yours and a couple others as you play. If you don’t know how or are not sure that you are doing them right, stop myself or one of my crew members and let us help you. Thank you!

Golf Pro

Bill Hasler (417.335.8187)

Rules Quiz

Lee’s tee shot on number seven hits the bridge and kicks into the fairway. He plays his next shot into the bunker. At this point, Lee notices that there is a gash in his ball made when the ball hit the bridge. Under the one ball rule, may Lee replace his ball in the trap with a new one?

Last month’s answer: Reggie’s score for the hole was a 2.

Be Proud:
Posture is often over looked as part of the golf swing. Actually, aside from the grip, your posture is the most important component than the swing itself. Having a proper foundation is the only way to achieve your maximum potential. Too many times, I see amateur golfers focused on the ground with their back hunched over and their chin buried into their chest in an effort to keep from “looking up”. This causes a number of problems including reverse weight shift and the inability to release the club head.
It is important that you be set up in an athletic stance with PROUD posture. Proud posture includes a straight back with your chest out and your chin up. Keep in mind this may feel unappealing considering almost every time you miss hit a golf shot someone tells you that you “looked up”. From now on, don’t think about keeping your head down, just think about keeping your head still and your focus on the ground. Remember; chin up, back straight and chest out will help you find your swing’s potential.

Gridiron Golf Classic

StoneBridge Village played host to the inaugural Gridiron Golf Classic in May. This was the first year for the event. The Gridiron Golf Classic pits the Kansas City Chiefs against the St. Louis Rams in a head-to-head battle for the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Gridiron Golf Cup. The match was a tight one that went all the way to a sudden death play off. It has been a topic of discussion on Sirius NFL Radio and (according to the players) will remain a topic of conversation in their locker rooms. The cup will be awarded to the winning Kansas City Chiefs at the Rams and Chiefs pre season game on August 30th. I would like to thank all of the sponsors and volunteers who helped make year number one of this event a success.

The date for the Sticks & Stones Junior Golf Clinic has been set. The clinic will be Monday July 9th through Thursday July 13th and will be structured the same as it was last year. I would like to thank The LedgeStone Ladies Golf Association for their generous donation of $800.00 dollars to this program. Their 2006 donation fueled the program last year and was the main reason for the clinic’s success. If you would like to sign up your children or grandchildren for the clinic, please contact the Pro Shop at 417-335-8187.

The dates for the LLGA Invitational and the Men’s Member Guest are also in place. This month we will be hosting Ron Crawford’s Wings Tournament and the Branson Invitational. The Wings Tournament is on Monday, June 11th. You may sign up for this event in the Pro Shop. The Branson Invitation is full; however, if you would like to be on the waiting list, you may contact Jeff Walster at 417-334-4477. The sign up is already out for the 4th of July Scramble. Unlike the Memorial Day Scramble, the scramble on the 4th will be open to the public. You may sign up individually or as a couple and the teams will be made up by the Pro Shop. The 4th of July scramble begins at 8:00 a.m. The cost for members is $10.00 each and the cost for guests is $59.00 each.

Although, we can always use the rain, I am hoping that we don’t spend another month submerged in water. If not, I will see you on the golf course.

Following is a list of tournaments for the next two months:
Wings - June 11th
Branson Invitational -June 22nd
4th of July Scramble -July 4th
Sticks & Stones Jr. Clinic - July 9 – 13th
Doc Hines - July 27th

Please check the website under “Tournaments” for changes and future events or a list is available in the Pro Shop. Thank you.

Developer News - Rick Billington

The summer edition of the new “Your Home in the Ozarks” Magazine is out on the newsstands now with a golf focus and a great section on what’s new in Branson. This has been a big hit with customers throughout Southwest Missouri and has been a great vehicle to get information about Stonebridge out to the masses. We feel so strongly about this new magazine that plans are now underway to insert it into major newspapers throughout the United States. It also features a section promoting Nightly Rental at Stonebridge and a VIP travel offer for those who have not visited Branson or Stonebridge to come and “be our guest”. If anyone would like to receive a copy or would like to share a copy with friends, contact the MPI Marketing Office at 417-335-3518.

We are always seeking new distribution points for our magazine, if anyone has availability or ideas of a possible distribution point please contact Debra Wiskirchen in the MPI Marketing Office at 335-3518.

We are also working on a new referral plan for our Stonebridge owners to share their love of Stonebridge with their friends and family. This program will reward you as an owner for sending us information on prospects that might like to come and experience our beautiful StoneBridge Village and to possibly make an investment in their future just as you have. For more details on this program, contact Lynette McBratney at the Stonebridge Welcome Center 417-332-1300.

The new amenity core that is being constructed currently at the Lodges at Fox Hollow Lake is on schedule and nearing completion. These new amenities will include a large covered pavilion that includes a full kitchen and food prep area. Also included is a new swimming pool, basketball courts, volleyball court and outdoor barbeque. There will be ample parking in front of this new area and landscaped sitting areas as well. The scheduled completion of these new amenities is June 15th, and we already have several functions booked to use this area this summer. These amenities will be available for all StoneBridge owners and guests for family reunions and other gatherings.. ..please contact Denise at the POA office for availability. If you haven’t been up to this new area at Fox Hollow Lake, you really should come take a look, you’ll be very impressed. We’ve even heard rumors of some big fish caught from the bank of Fox Hollow Lake….maybe just a fish story!

The new single-family homes in Forest Lake are nearing completion…these are beautiful homes with incredible mountain top views! If you know of anyone relocating to the Branson area….they must look at these awesome homes. A great value for the money in the only private master planned golf course community in Branson.

If you have guests coming in for the summer or fall, or need to host a family reunion or business function, let us help you plan it and house your guests in the Lodges at Forest Lake. We have now added professional concierge service for our Nightly Rental guests along with Bellman service. With the new meeting space at the clubhouse, the pavilion area at Fox Hollow Lake and our fantastic Lodges, Stonebridge is the perfect place for any family or business get together. Call Valerie Yow at 417-332-1373 for planning assistance.

Golf Committee

Larry Ewing (417-338-8694)

The Golf Committee is reviewing the LedgeStone Golf Course at StoneBridge Village’s Rules and Regulations booklet to see if any changes need to be made prior to it being reprinted.

We are looking into the possibility of getting a scoreboard. We will be evaluating different designs and different options from outright purchase to selling advertising space on the scoreboard to help cover the cost. When our investigation is complete, we will make a recommendation to the board.

Each year, we consider golf course improvement projects, which can be accomplished during the winter months. Our practice facility is an area where we feel significant improvements should be made. One of the ideas being discussed is to make major modifications to the chipping green, which would include making the usable area around the green much larger. Another improvement, in addition to improving the practice area, is to possibly provide a staging area for golf carts. This would improve the looks and eliminate the current congestion around the putting green and the entrance to the Pro Shop.

We would like to remind everyone that for safety reasons walking on the golf course is not allowed.

Advisory Committee

Jim Tomassini (417.348.1717)

The Advisory Committee met on April 25, 2007. All of the current committee members agreed to serve another term. The repair of the East Gate Bridge is completed.

Emilie Moore and Janella Bodden had a meeting with the Neighborhood Watch Captains on May 11th. Topics discussed included: replacement of Captains that have moved or no longer wanted to serve in that capacity, providing Neighborhood Watch materials to new residents, and vehicle Neighborhood Watch placard assignments used on neighborhood patrols, and appreciation for past and future distribution of special information flyers from the POA.

The next Advisory Committee meeting is scheduled for Wednesday May 23rd at 3:00pm.

Finance Committee

Roger Radebaugh (417.334.0454)

We want to share with you April financial results and a bit about the NID taxes.

The April results, before depreciation and interest expense, were $71,700, lower than budget by $8,000. This shortfall is due primarily to net pro shop operation being under budget by $12,700 (actual results were $67,600 compared to budget of $80,300), and golf course expenses being over budget by $13,600. Other income, ACC permits and Road Impact fees, were better than budget by $11,300.

The NID (Neighbor Improvement District) Bond is a twenty-year, $3,775,000 bond, issued in 1997 by the county to pay for the roads in Stone County in the first phase of the StoneBridge development. The NID taxes that are on your annual tax bill pay for the redemption of these bonds, and will continue until 2017, unless some of the bonds can be redeemed prior to this date. Right now the Assessment Fund is over-funded (more money is being collected than what is needed for annual interest and principal repayments). The finance committee is currently meeting with Stone County officials to determine what options are available to us in using this over-funded money.

Please contact any member of the finance committee with specific questions.

LedgeStone Grille & Nicol's Fine Dining

Bob Nicol (417.239.0445)

Hello from the restaurants! We had a busy May and June is looking promising as well. We really appreciate the support we get from the property owners. All the luncheons, dinners, golf functions and private parties make a huge difference in our business. Thank you all!

We are all looking forward to the June 8th luau. Denise always puts together a fun party and I am looking forward to preparing some Hawaiian cuisine. Let’s all hope for nice weather for this event.

Please enjoy the following recipe. You can add cooked seafood, chicken or vegetables to this base recipe.

Fettucine Alfredo

8 ounces cooked fettuccine
½ cup butter
½ cup whipping cream (also called heavy cream)
¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
¼ teaspoon white pepper
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Combine butter and whipping cream in a small saucepan; cook over low heat until butter melts. Stir in cheese, pepper and parsley. Add fettuccini and cook until heated throughout.

Neighborhood Watch Program

Emilie Moore - Chairman (417.336.6344)

The Neighborhood Watch Program fulfills an important function in the security of StoneBridge Village. The Block Captains are the eyes and ears of the street on which they live and provide a service that makes for a friendly and secure community. They are there for us when the village security and the sheriff can’t be.

However, to help your Block Captain do his or her job, it’s important that you get acquainted, get the phone number, and notify him/her when you are leaving your property for any length of time. At least, the awareness of your absence can provide extra security.

The Fire Department advises that a house key be left with a neighbor, or your Block Captain, so that in case of fire, your house would not be subjected to a forced entry.

This program also provides the Property Owners Association with new residents’ names and phone numbers, so no one gets left out of the POA Phone Directory.

The Block Captain is a great source of information about the village and its amenities, as well as, what’s available in the Branson area.

When you become a resident of StoneBridge Village, you are automatically part of the Neighborhood Watch Program and each one of us are asked to report anything suspicious to the Security Gate at 339-2131 or to the Stone County Sheriff at 417-357-6116.

Medical, Fire, and Emergency calls for the Sheriff are always to the 911 number. Their command center is near the entrance to StoneBridge Village and they dispatch emergency vehicles.

Block Captains also distribute timely information to us when the newsletter is too slow; and you may see a Block Captain on security watch with the “Neighborhood Watch” placard on the sides of the car. A listing of Block Captains is at the front of your POA Phone Directory.

All StoneBridge Village Lessors Please Note:

If you are a property owner who is currently leasing your property on a long-term basis personally or thru a management company, the following rules must be observed.

1) A copy of the lease must be on file in the StoneBridge Village POA office, along with contact information for you, the property owner, or your management company.
2) If property is leased “with use of amenities”, the lease must contain a clause transferring use of the amenities from you the owner to the lessee. Leases without the clause will restrict your tenant from using the amenities.
3) Past due assessments (which are the responsibility of the property owner, not the tenant) will result in loss of amenities for the tenant.

For Your Convenience…

Did you know that for your convenience you can set up Automatic Credit Card or Direct Bank Debit payments to pay your monthly assessments? For more information, contact the POA office at 417-335-7869.

Information Please…

For all of us, change is constant! Be sure that when changes occur in your life that affect our communication with you – new phone number, address, etc. – please update your information with the POA office. Simply call 417-335-7869.
