StoneBridge Village Newsletter - May 2006
Manager’s Report
Darrell Ransdell (335-7869)
Administration Personnel – We have two additions to the POA staff. Laura Brinks has joined us as staff accountant. Laura recently moved to the area from Iowa and has 25 years of accounting experience. She joins Sandy Mincks in handling our accounting needs. Also joining us is Denise Needham in a new position as our Recreation Director. Her first day will be May 8th. Denise worked with Escapes’ activities at StoneBridge for 8 years and has a very good knowledge of the village. She will handle activities related to the Clubhouse and amenities including parties, meeting rooms’ reservations and arrangements. Denise will help establish various clubs and activities for both residents and visitors. She will have a temporary office at the Welcome Center until we can work out space in the POA office. If you have an idea for a club or activity that is needed at StoneBridge, please feel free to contact Denise. Both are welcome additions to our staff ,so say “Hello” and introduce yourself.
Clubhouse Renovation – Work is moving quickly now that the electrical, heating, air conditioning and plumbing work is nearly complete. The upstairs floor has been refurbished and carpet installation has started. Floor tile is installed in the kitchen areas and entries on both floors. Painting will be completed during the last week of April, while furniture, kitchen and bar equipment will begin arriving. Installation is expected to move quickly. Bob Nicol and his staff are poised to begin the process of cleaning and stocking up for opening. We are all ready to have the kitchen and bar available, particularly with the golf season already in full swing and warmer than normal weather. The full clubhouse should be in operation near the 1st of June.
We will post a notice on the web-site when the opening date is determined.
During the construction, please DO NOT ENTER the clubhouse except on the lower level to visit the Pro Shop, Exercise Room and the POA offices. All other areas are off limits for safety reasons.
Golf Course Modification – This project is complete but carts are still limited to cart paths only until the sod has an opportunity to “grow in”. We reversed the direction of play on holes #10 & #18, without changes to the greens, to improve the playability of the course. Golfers are telling us daily that this project is a great improvement. The view from the forward tees on #18 to the green area is magnificent and improving each day. If you have not played LedgeStone lately, you have not played LedgeStone. Jim Pyle, Golf Course Superintendent, Chad Hoerschgen, Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, and our Golf Maintenance crew put in a long hard winter to bring this project to completion. They have moved a LOT of sod, moved irrigation, dug drainage, hauled and placed large rocks, built a bridge, and overseen the many activities of this project with each one contributing. We are appreciative of the professional manner in which this project was accomplished. As you enjoy the course please take the time to let them know we appreciate their success. Our Golf Course Maintenance crew is now returning to normal activities for the time of year.
Gates – The new gates are installed at both the East and West entrances. The trenches dug for electrical needs will soon be paved and the posts will have decorative rock added. We are still in the debugging stage and soon will be fully operational.
Each resident will be receiving instructions regarding the key pads use for visitors. The East Gate will be accessible via the keypad but a card or remote will be needed for exit. This is still necessary to keep through traffic out of StoneBridge Village. The road to the East Gate is private and runs on property leased by the POA. We intend to continue to limit use because of past speeding and unsafe truck traffic down the winding road. Existing gate cards and remotes will function as they have in the past.
Annual Meeting – As a reminder, the StoneBridge Village POA Annual Meeting will be held May 18, 2006 at the Welcome Center. The audited financials from 2005 will be available at the meeting and election results will be announced. The Annual Meeting is also when the Board appoints the committee members for the coming year. The meeting will start at 10:30 A.M. and is on the calendar.
Newsletter on Web-site – The May newsletter is the first month we will not be mailing the newsletter to the full membership. Now that it is available “on line” we will only mail to those members who do not have internet access and let us know. Please remind your friends. This change is saving the POA considerable postage and printing costs, as well as, time. We thank the volunteers who helped us put the newsletter together in the past.

I give up trying to figure out our weather, spring weather in the winter and summer weather in the spring. I think spring passed us, but the weeds that it brings did not. We are going to have to be very persistent to rid ourselves of weeds this year - any 2-4-D product or broadleaf weed control will help and for Crabgrass any MSMA product will help.
Our projects on Hole #18 and #10 are finished with only a few minor things left to do. Hope you enjoy it.

May is here, the grass is green, and we are now playing holes 10 & 18. If you have not played them yet, I suggest you schedule a tee time to experience the new Ledgestone Golf Course.
I would like to thank all of the members for your patience with the scorecards and the new pro shop counter. Once the counter is in place, we will have two service stations to better service our customers. We are anticipating a new golf course rating shortly and will be receiving the new scorecards once we are issued our new rating. Until then, please note the following change to the local rules on the scorecard. Rakes are to be placed inside the bunkers following play. Coming up later this month is our Member/Employee scramble. This will be Wednesday, May 31st at 8:00 a.m. July 10th through the 13th is our Sticks & Stones Junior golf clinic for children ages 8 to 14.
Men’s League, Ladies League, and Couples have been quite a success this year. You may sign up for either of these events by contacting the golf shop at 417-335-8187.
FYI
FYI The utility company would like all households having power outages and or water problems to notify them. This allows them to pin point where the problem is and service can resume faster.
Security’s Cell Phone Number - If you are unable to reach a security guard at the West Gate, you can call 417-263-1728.
